Call for Papers: Blockchain Technology for Coalition Operations. Deadline 7 August!
Blockchain is an emerging technology that is expected to offer efficient opportunities for tasks involving immutable transactions. Based on major characteristics such as being distributed, decentralized, trustless, and transparently secure, the blockchain technology has the potential to satisfy the need of reliably exchanging information tackling potential adversaries who try to disrupt and compromise this exchange.
At the forefront of information systems technology, the IST Panel is hosting a Research Specialists Meeting (RSM) on Blockchain Technology for Coalition Operations, to take place in October 2020, in Slovenia. The objectives of this RSM are to share information and relevant research, and to collaborate on blockchain technology for coalition operations. The relevant non-exhaustive list of topics is listed below; emphasis will be given according to the interests of participants and to the challenges common to the coalition operation scenarios to which they apply:
• Technical foundations for Blockchain technology such as cyber warfare preparedness, cryptography, technical variations of BCT, identity management and trust between systems, and preventing data theft.
• Logistics in coalition operations such as tracing the defense shipments and contracts (e.g., smart contracts), military additive manufacturing, managing supply chains, and NATO applications.
• Trustworthy military IoT such that blockchain adoption on military IOT environment, intelligent autonomy, and resilient communication networks.
• Command and Control such as battlefield management, metadata binding for security labeling (i.e., STANAG 4778/4774), and protecting weapons systems.
