Bi-/Multi-Static Radar Performance Evaluation under Synchronized Conditions

SET-268 Research Task Group (RTG) #4 Meeting on Bi-/Multi-Static Radar Performance Evaluation under Synchronized Conditions, 18 August 2020, virtually

Most distributed sensor systems in operation today rely on GNSS-based time synchronization, which can easily be jammed or even spoofed. The SET Panel established a Research Task Group (RTG) on Bi-/Multi-Static Radar Performance Evaluation under Synchronized Conditions in order to explore new technologies to guarantee operations in adverse scenarios. To this end, the Group planned to assess technologies to synchronise between nodes of a distributed radar, to assess the accuracy of such a synchronization scheme, and to define a metric that is appropriate to a specific synchronization technology. The work undertaken will lead to the production of novel results to approach a means of synchronising sensors (static and moving) in a GNSS denied environment. In the context of spatially diverse modern radar with high degrees of interoperability, this Group makes a significant contribution to the community-wide understanding of how future radars will perform. The 4th meeting of the SET-268 RTG was held virtually on 18 August. For further information, please contact the SET Panel Office.
