Basics of complex modern urban functions and characteristics

SAS-149 Research Technical Course (RTC) on Basics of complex modern urban functions and characteristics, 15-17 December 2020 (Virtual)

As highlighted in several recent studies and experiments, future mega-cities will be an attractive and useful environment to adversaries. These mega-cities will provide an infrastructure for a wide variety of operational options for our adversaries within the spectrum of conflict, including both kinetic and non-kinetic options such as information operations warfare, law fare, criminality, and cyber hacking. It is important that we understand this environment.

Thus, with the aim of providing the basics for understanding complex modern urban functions and characteristics, the SAS Panel has opened enrollments for the SAS-149 Research Technical Course (RTC), which will hold its first virtual course on 15-17 December. The main objective of this course will be to develop a foundation of knowledge to help identify challenges and gaps on operational concepts and military capabilities in the urban environment.

The content of the course will provide both military and scientists with a foundation in terms of the latest attributes of complex modern cities, which continue to evolve with increasing urbanization. The course programme is available from the STO Events website. Please contact the SAS Panel Office if you are interested in this activity or you would like to have more information.
