Automatic (or Assisted) Target Recognition relies upon having extensive databases of example imagery of the targets of interest. Given the huge degree of variability intrinsic in radar imagery, it is generally impractical to populate such databases entirely with real imagery and so imagery obtained from radar scattering prediction tools applied to target models must also be used. The topic of training databases, target modelling and model-based recognition needs to be considered.
This new TG proposes to focus its work on various aspects of model based ATR, namely the comparison of real and modelled signatures of various targets and the influence of the models parameters on recognition performances.
