The unique mechanical, chemical and optical properties of graphene are spawning new materials and technologies across the board, but military organizations are slow to evaluate their potential impact on materiel and military capability.
AVT-304 will evaluate how, where, when and why graphene technologies could be implemented in military materiel.
Major topics include:
• Structural applications for land, sea and air platforms including damage tolerant composite materials
• Lightweight and high performance ballistic protection
• Coatings to reduce maintenance requirements, especially corrosion and wear
• Signature management and camouflage
Other topics including energy generation and storage may be included where synergies with the major topics are possible.
