|NATO Modelling and Simulation Group|
Implementation, Master Plan, Modelling, Simulation
Modelling and Simulation in NATO and in many NATO and partner nations is driven by the NATO M&S Master Plan (NMSMP), which was approved by the NAC. It contains the M&S vision, requirements, objectives and responsibilities for the Alliance. This document assigns leadership and support roles to the different NATO bodies with implications in the use of M&S as a cost-effective approach to help the planning and completion of tasks derived from defence planning, military training, and support to operations etc. The NMSMP was crafted between 1996 and 1998, updated in 2012, and grants NMSG the authority to provide updates to this document when considered appropriate. The latest version includes a Strategic Plan and an Implementation Plan.
This Task Group is created as a response to an NMSG initiative. It is widely supported by NATO nations, partner nations, NATO bodies etc. The objective is to update the NATO M&S Master Plan – Implementation Plan, and ultimately to provide short- to medium-term M&S-related guidance for NATO and nations.
