Activity title | Characterization of Noise Radar |
Activity Reference | SET-287 |
Panel | SET |
Security Classification | NATO UNCLASSIFIED |
Status | Active |
Activity type | RTG |
Start date | 2020-12-09T00:00:00Z |
End date | 2024-12-09T00:00:00Z |
Keywords | Noise Radar, Radar Specification, SET |
Background | Previous RTGs have confirmed the applicability of noise radar to short-range systems with provable resistance to interception and exploitation. SET-225 showed the practicality of building noise radars with similar form fit and function to low-power military radars. |
Objectives | Build on experience of previous group in the design and testing of noise radar demonstrators to produce recommendations for the specification and characterization of noise radars. |
Topics | • Control and characterization of direct leakage between transmitter and receiver
• Control of sensitivity floor due to range sidelobes of large targets
• Minimizing transmitter power consumption and digital processing requirements
• Ensuring required LPI and interference rejection performance
• ensuring effective use of RF spectrum by exploiting the flexibility of noise waveforms |
