2016 STO Scientific Achievement Award and Von Karman Medal

The NATO Chief Scientist, Major General Albert Husniaux (middle) and the AVT-212 Team During the Executive Session of the Science and Technology Board meeting held at NATO HQ, Brussels on 23-24 March 2016, the following teams were granted the 2016 STO Scientific Achievement Award :

  • AVT-212 “Application of Integrated Munitions Health Management (IMHM): Demonstrating Methodologies for Implementation”.
  • HFM-186 “State-of-the-art in Research on Medical Countermeasures Against Biological Agents”.
  • MSG-106 “Enhanced CAX Architecture, Design and Methodology – SPHINX”.
  • SAS-099 “Economics for Evaluating Fleet Replacement”.
  • SCI-250 “Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapons in Tactical Scenarios”.
  • SET-170 “Mid-Infrared Fiber Lasers”.

The Executive Session was also the opportunity for the Board to award the 2016 Von Karman Medal, a selection of excellence within excellence. After a difficult selection, the Science and Technology Board decided to award the Von Karman Medal to Mr Daniel Chaumette (France).

The Award Ceremony will take place during the 2016 Fall Science and Technology Board meeting to be held from 19-23 September in Rome, Italy.
