NATO Chief Scientist and CSO Director meet with Secretary of U.S. Air Force

The NATO Chief Scientist Dr Bryan Wells and the Director of the Collaboration Support Office, Mr John-Mikal Stordal, met with the US Secretary of the Air Force, the Hon Frank Kendall III, at NATO HQ on Thursday 10 February. The meeting focused on opportunities for closer working between the US Department of the Air Force (which oversees both the US Air Force and US Space Force) and the STO, building on the already strong links. The subjects covered included emerging and disruptive technologies, climate change, outreach to young scientists, S&T investment levels amongst the Allies, and the S&T implications of the current geo-political situation.

Dr Wells said “the interest that Mr Kendall showed in all our work is testament to the impact that the STO is having with senior leadership within the Allies”.

Mr Stordal said “this was an excellent opportunity to highlight some of our flagship projects that we are conducting with the US Air Force”.
