Main_Body_Multi: The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI) held remotely its 6th meeting this 4th and 5th February 2021. The SAC is composed of representatives from the VKI funding Nations and was established in order to carry out a yearly assessment of the scientific relevance of the VKI’s planned activities for the coming academic year and the subsequent years.

 

The review of the activities show that the VKI operates in support of all 3 NATO S&T Strategic Objectives. Through the NATO nation's student body, the alliance leverages VKI to ensure the continuation of its expertise and excellence in Fluid Dynamics. With relation to the NATO S&T Priorities, the VKI's principal focus has been in the areas of Propulsion, Enhanced Energy Efficiency & Management, Fast and Agile Platforms, Unmanned Platforms, Hypersonic Platform, Advanced and Adaptive Materials and High Assurance Engineering & Validation.

 

The Institute thanks the SAC members for the in-depth assessment of the VKI research activities. The quality and relevance of their recommendations are highly appreciated.
