Main_Body_Multi: Call for Papers: NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO) Research Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data for Hybrid Military Operations (AI4HMO)

The STO highlights the requirement for exploiting the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI), in particular Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data (BD) for hybrid military operations in NATO.

In the last years there have been, and currently still are, various NATO activities in the domains of AI, ML and BD, as well as in the area of hybrid scenarios, with particular focus on the upcoming information and cyber warfare vectors. By the combination of electronic warfare, cyber warfare, and information warfare, together with the application of AI technologies, hybrid military operations gain another important dimension. With the potential to “electronically” spread across borders, globally and locally, with a speedy and pervasive exertion of influence on various levels (technical, decision making, leadership, population), NATO-wide cooperative activities are of utmost importance in this domain.

Thus, this Information Systems Technology (IST) Research Symposium, to be held on 5 and 6 October 2021 in Koblenz, Germany, will provide attendees a forum where operational experts and scientists work towards a common road map for future technologies that address the identified knowledge gaps or pursue the assessment of recognized opportunities offered by available techniques with regard to emerging technologies in these areas.

Interested authors are invited to submit Public Release abstracts/papers for this event before the deadlines of 3 May for U.S. and 31 May 2021 for other nations.
