NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO)
We conduct leading-edge science and technology (S&T) programmes to help maintain the Alliance’s military advantage. We generate, share and exploit advanced scientific knowledge, technological developments and innovation to support the Alliance’s core tasks: deterrence and collective defence, crisis prevention and management, and cooperative security.
At the core of the STO is the Collaborative Programme of Work (CPoW), which comprises more than 400 research activities across S&T areas of critical importance to NATO Nations. Our collaborative network brings together more than 5,000 scientists and engineers from government, industry and academia, making it the world’s largest network for security- and defence-focused science and technology research.
