Weapon/Target Interaction Tools for Use in Tri-Service Applications

RTO-MP-AVT-153

The assessment of weapon system performance in terms of lethality against a wide target set is critical to the development of future weapons and maintenance of capability of legacy systems capable of defeating an evolving threat. The meeting objective was to present to an audience of specialists the state-of-the-art relating to detail level vulnerability/lethality assessment methods used for the assessment of air, land, sea and space vehicles. The recently completed AVT-127 programme (Inter Nation Comparison of Lethality in Tri-Service Applications for NATO) conducted a comparative assessment of models used within several NATO nations. The meeting expanded upon the efforts of this task group and sought to expand participation to a much wider community. The primary objective of this meeting was to gather specialists to discuss the future of vulnerability/lethality models regarding their architectures, methodologies and algorithms used within them.
