STOAbstractExternal: This special issue of the MSIAC Journal for I/ITSEC 2008 presents two extremely interesting articles exploring new ways to connect the dots by applying M&S to a range of evolving issues. The paper by COL Surdu explores what DARPA does best - looking at high risk, high payoff applications of new technology. The Deep Green concept illustrates a future where planning and operations capabilities are supported by integrating emerging M&S technologies that describe interactions in an innovative way. The article by Radtke et al. explores new paths to evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of existing training simulations through improved operator/system interactions for after action reviews. The methods proposed and evaluated should apply as well to a wide range of simulation applications employed by experimentation, testing, and other communities enabled by M&S.
