On the 24 and 25 October 2019, the NATO Modelling & Simulation Group (NMSG) held its Annual Symposium. Under the theme “Towards the Next Generation Synthetic Battlespace”, the Symposium was opened by keynote speaker Major General Bruno Hofbauer from the Austrian Armed Forces, and an invited presentation by Dr. Ralph Hammer, from the Austrian Ministry for Transportation, Innovation and Technology.

With over 100 participants, 18 papers were selected for presentation, three papers were selected for poster sessions, and five Authors were invited to participate in a Panel Session to discuss the NMSG’s contribution to the Next Generation Synthetic Battlespace. A Young Scientist Award was attributed to Dr. Samuel S. Monfort and Dr. John J. Graybeal for their paper on “Reliability Requirements for Augmented Reality in Visual Search Tasks”, presented at I/ITSEC 2018, and an NMSG Meritorious Service Award was attributed to Mr. Walter Ullrich, in recognition of his many years of outstanding reporting on Modelling & Simulation for Military Training and other applications in the Defence domain, and in particular for his coverage of the NMSG activities, including this Symposium. We hereby invite you to save the date for the 2020 NMSG Symposium, which will take place in England, United Kingdom, on the 22-23 October 2020.
